Thank you to everyone who has been practising their spellings over the weeks. This week is half term but your new spelling overviews will be put on this page ready for the following week.
Over half term, why not ask an adult to randomly pick 20 of your spellings you have been practising over the weeks? You can see how many you get right. Or, how about a Spelling Bee challenge? You could use the words in red on your overviews or any of your spellings. How many can you get right in a row?
If your child is in Year 1 and Year 2, please continue to practise reading and spelling the Common Exception Words (attached below). For all Key Stage 2 children, please start to learn your new Summer 1 spellings which are all on the Term 3A document (attached below with each year group). Remember to revise previous spellings (Term 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B). It would be great if you could also do a Friday spelling test like we normally do in school containing five new words and five old words. Don't forget to also work on Year 3 and 4/ 5 and 6 Statutory Spellings please. Please also send in any photos of the spelling practice you have carried out so we can display it on this page.
1. Write letters on the ground using chalk (make sure you include all the letters your child will need).
2. Give your child their spelling and ask them to jump / move to the letters they need to spell out the word.
3. Write the word down as they spell , so they can check / repeat.
Below is a list of other ideas to practise your spellings over the weeks. Also, don't forget https://www.spellzone.com/ This website has a range of online games and printable resources. Go to 'word lists' at the top of the page and then in the 'find a word list' section search for the spelling pattern you would like to practise.
